Who and what do you depend on these days?
A lot hangs on this.
If I never hear the phrase, ‘in these uncertain times’ again it will be too soon.
Life has always been uncertain but we’ve been asleep. Now we are wide awake. We need something to hold on to.
There is something underneath all the chaos. A lifeline in the storm. A light in the darkness. A bridge to tomorrow.
We know it. We feel it. But often it is unnamed.
‘ God’ hardly seems an adequate name. The idea is tinged with so much. The ancient Hebrews wouldn’t even utter it or write it–some still don’t–for fear they’d sully it. But not naming something doesn’t exactly make it go away.
Think of God as a feeling then. He won’t be offended. It is impossible to offend God, except by not believing. In that case he is dead to you, and that’s not a pretty place. But you already know that.
Reach. See. Feel. Hold on.
