Mind and Body

I’ve been working through some things, and I’ve noticed it’s funny how the body and mind work together to preserve life, and to protect each other.

We are literally healing machines. If something in a system is not right, all sorts of other things happen to bring it to our attention. In fact paying attention to your mind and body is precisely what we must do for survival.

I tend to neglect inner warning signs. Yes, even though I’m an introvert. I have a proclivity to ignore my own limitations. I try instead to match up with some imaginary me that can overload and still maintain the calm spirit I like to portray.
But.

Just a couple days ago I experienced a panic attack. I’ve always wondered what they felt like. I wonder no more. My mother says they are a product of modern civilization and I’m inclined to agree with her.

Fortunately I faced some things that had been piling up and began to sort out where some of the anxiety lay hidden. My body told me to! It seemed to scream at me,”Pay attention!!”

And so I am.
