Remembering Good Friday

And now we come to the darkest part of the most important story in the world. In this space, there is no love, for love has been snuffed out. There is no hope, for hope is dead. There is no savior, for he is no more. Every time we despair, or we want to turn on ourselves or others in guilt and anger, every time we give in to the dark pull of fear, we are living in this space.

It is precisely here in this empty place that our enemy, the soul of evil himself, works to make us believe that this is our only reality, the wretched state of nothingness where meaning and purpose have no place. It is easy in this dark moment to imagine, ‘what if it lasted forever?’ The world could only carry on for three days, how could we sustain  life without redemption at every level?

Keep on reading. The story is far from over.
